Give and receive gratitude! Give and receive kindness!
I hold these touchstones close to my heart
With tears in my eyes I read a comment to the post yesterday. It was from the mother of the young teenager who made and placed the sign acknowledging the healthcare professionals, calling them heroes! I got a chance to virtually meet mother and son and thank them for all of us, the healthcare professionals team. I am not sure how they learnt about the blog, however not knowing does not bother me. I am reminded of what I firmly believe in and quote often, “In life there are no chances or coincidences, only confirmations.” I am truly grateful for this confirmation!
And then another confirmation arrived from a former resident Arshdeep Tindni, MD, FNKF, FASN, who trained here over a decade ago. I have kept in touch with him and his successful career as a nephrologist and a leader in his field and his community in Cincinnati, Ohio. He responded to the blog with the pictures below:
Curious, I requested more details, to which he responded,
“Dr Panda, We created this group with an idea that we raise money and support our front line workers and local vendors who are affected with current pandemic. We will raise money and get gift cards from local vendors and distribute to our front line healthcare workers. This platform will also share what our front line health care workers are going through and still smiling. It will help build morale of every soldier and make them feel that they are not alone and whole community is standing behind them. We will beat this together!”
Indeed we will, Arshdeep, with leaders like you listening, understanding and caring for what the community needs, going above and beyond! Serving! Indeed we will beat this together! WE Will Overcome!
Proud of you and your team indeed!
“Random acts of kindness, however small it may be, can transform the world.”
―Amit Ray#REFLECT What is a recent act of kindness you have witnessed or offered? Did you need to see an outcome for it to matter?
How is the coronavirus changing the way you think of self-care, community and resilience? As this challenging time unfolds, I am posting a daily quote on this blog with a reflection prompt. Please join in the conversation here or on Twitter with your thoughts or about what you are doing for self-care and care of others. My new book explores these ideas too: Resilient Threads: Weaving Joy and Meaning into Well-Being.
