On today's walk on the V&E Greenline with my big dog, Rupert, we saw a pair of wood ducks in Lick Creek, a small creek that flows through Midtown Memphis. The male duck fed the female a morsel of food as we were watching from the bridge above. Nature is so beautiful and so healing.

Awe, your friend is my friend! Her picture made my day!!

My husband and I are drawing comfort and strength through an unexpected source. We have found ourselves watching his cousin minister in San Antonio on Sunday mornings. It has felt reassuring to "attend" church with family.

Life needs three kinds of strength.

The physical strength comes from material things such as the power one wields, the power of muscle, money, might, or mass following.

The mental strength comes from knowledge and experience, and the mutual and respectful exchange with others.

The spiritual strength, which includes moral and ethical values, comes from one’s faith, beliefs, and self-confidence. It also comes from absorbing and appreciating the beauty of nature. The best way to acquire this natural strength is by interacting, respecting, and protecting the nature.

Philosophically and spiritually, the entire universe stands on three pillars: The Creator - the supreme Singularity; the Creation-the nature and We-the observers. [Brahm, Prakriti and Purush].

Nature or Prakriti exists for the sole purpose of supporting life in the Universe. This includes us. We not only draw our strength from nature, we owe our life to it and its abundant supplies of the essentials for life, air, water, and nutrition.

The Creator has provided its children with the physical and abstract senses. Physical senses to enjoy comforts and pleasures. Abstract sensualities for appreciation of the beauty and perfection in nature and happiness and satisfaction from acts of empathy, compassion, and kindness.

We can find reserves for physical, mental, and spiritual strength only from nature, its inherent beauty, gifts, and blessings; be they food for the body, joy for the mind or the happiness for the soul.

How we use these gifts of our senses and sensualities is up to us, just for physical pleasures or for our joy and happiness as well. For calm and peace of mind and the serenity and solace of the soul, there is nothing better than a quiet walk in the wilderness or quiet meditation to introspect, comprehend and contemplate.

An understanding friend as company in these endeavors can be a blessing.

Grateful for my new friend and hope to be seeing her on a walk in the neighborhood some day when I can walk a distance again.
