With gratitude, I can transform negativity to positivity.
I can turn everything negative into its opposite positive attitudes and attributes. I can settle the tensions and turmoil, change misunderstandings into understandings and can restore peace and normality as per its prevailing definition and practices.
This reference to what is normal is so well represented in the touching story narrated above. When we return to normal, if we can ever do, it will not be the return to what was there before the present crisis. After the two world wars, and the recent 9/11, nothing ever returned to what was there before them. All that happened was that people accepted the change as the new normal. I believe that the same will happen this time too. The only difference will be that the consequences will affect everyone on the planet in every walk of life. The good news is that while the new norm may affect our physical comforts and mental thinking, it will have no effect on our heartfelt convictions and spiritual beliefs. We will still continue to practice empathy, compassion, kindness and gratitude, may be with more vigor. We will still continue to believe in virtues of truth and honesty, responsibility and sincerity, care and concerns. We will still continue to pray for physical, intellectual and spiritual welfare of everyone.
Let us count our blessings. The need for gratitude probably has never been more than what is now, when everyone is a potential sufferer from the onslaught of this least understood virus. And yet, everyone can be the best caregiver in one’s own way, simply by practicing positive thoughts and actions, and by putting everyone at ease with expressions of gratitude.
Let us express our gratitude for all those because of whom we are still here, safe in our own cocoon of self-quarantine, while many were not so fortunate.
Thank you, God, wherever you are. Thank you, all Godly humans, on this planet in service of others, sparing no sacrifice including of your own life at times, for the sake of other’s lives.
Gratitude is always for things that are happening or have happened. With gratitude, we can transform our attitudes for today, and prepare ourselves for the new normal of tomorrow.
